On March 2nd, 2023, "Meg's Monster" was born. It was the first dedicated title for Steam/home gaming consoles that Odencat, which had primarily focused on mobile games for a long time, took on as a challenge. It's a game into which the team poured their souls. Fortunately, the story of this work has become a memorable part of many players' memories. Not just the game, but the scale of merchandise and other peripheral developments has been unprecedented, allowing us to spend an exciting year full of new challenges. We still have various plans for the future and hope to continue exploring new developments. We look forward to your continued support.

Daigo

Producer

Actually, Odencat currently has two major development lines. One is the line where I work on scenarios and direction for games like 'Bear's Restaurant' and 'Fishing Paradise.' The other line is Ryota-san's line, where I serve as a producer for projects such as 'Snowman Story,' 'Mouse Busters,' and 'Meg's Monster.'

This time, 'Meg's Monster' became the biggest hit in Odencat's history. It's a source of great pride for me since it's my own creation. However, I've also started feeling a mix of jealousy and fear as Ryota-san's power continues to grow.

As a producer, my primary job was to assemble the best team and shape the project. Despite occasional disagreements and challenges, we've become like companions who shared a phase of life together.

Even after the game's release, we've been able to explore new avenues like merchandise, 4-panel comics, and newsletters with the help of new team members. While solo game development is enjoyable, there's something truly fulfilling about working together as a team.

We hope that 'Meg's Monster' will continue to be loved, and we'll keep giving our best. Please look forward to it!

Since the release of "Meg's Monster," I have received many more positive comments than I ever imagined from so many people. I am most delighted that something I created thinking "this is good, isn't it?" was also seen as "good" by many others.

Being fundamentally negative, I have often found myself pondering dark thoughts alone like "What's the meaning of my life?" However, if through "Meg's Monster" I was able to provide a good experience or influence to various people, then perhaps that might be one answer to those thoughts.

I want to express my gratitude again to everyone who has played "Meg's Monster," liked it, or even shown a little interest. I plan to continue making games, so I look forward to your continued support!

One year already! I've designed characters and worlds before in my career, but never something so well-received. And for that, I am grateful.

Thank you to everyone who played, streamers, and the fans who keep producing incredible media based on "Meg's Monster".

The characters of Meg, Roy and Golan have become very meaningful to me and I often find myself doodling them on napkins or notebook paper.

But they would just be drawings if not for the efforts and hard work of my talented team members who brought them to life through game design, storytelling and music.

It was definetely a new milestone for Odencat and I remain excited about the future.

Reo Uratani

Composer

Since the release of "Meg's Monster" many things have changed.

Until now, I was often referred to as the composer for Monster Hunter, which of course made me happy. However, there was always a lingering feeling that my music was only appreciated because the games were popular and selling well.

But “Meg's Monster” provided me with an opportunity to discard such labels and engage with my work purely from the heart.

The one thing I wanted to express through music was the moment when I was a child, playing games, and my heart was moved.

Over the past year since its release, I received so many voices saying, “It was interesting!” and “The music was great!” It felt like my self-belief in creating the music was accepted, and it was a source of solace.

For the first time, I created the soundtrack CD myself. I also built a website and even promoted the music.

I worked tirelessly, and before I knew it, this work became incredibly precious to me.

Director Ryota also wrote a wonderful comment, and I share the same feelings. I look forward to continuing with "Meg's Monster."

Happy 1st Anniversary to 'Meg's Monster'!

I've been helping with game development at Odencat behind the scenes, but I believe 'Meg's Monster' was the largest project in terms of the number of people involved and its scale among all the works I've been part of.

There was an extraordinary attention to detail from the development team, such as wanting to eliminate noise in delicate environments, wanting to add fluctuations to the character's voice lines, and wanting to make the ending more emotional. We really worked hard up until just before the release to meet these aspirations. It was also the first time for a game of ours to be ported to Xbox.

A nerve-wracking issue where the game wouldn't start on Xbox emerged right after release, but fixing it quickly has now become a fond memory. Thanks to such efforts, 'Meg's Monster received great acclaim, and I was able to formally join Odencat last year.

I look forward to continuing to make great games, so please stay tuned!!

Happy 1st Anniversary to Meg's Monster!

It's so wonderful to see so many people playing and enjoying this lovely game. Ever since I was a little girl, it was a dream of mine to one day make music for video games. I especially wanted to sing emotional or healing songs to compliment the kinds of stories that stay in our hearts for a long time. I'm happy that I got to participate on this project, and I'm thankful to the team for creating such a world! Thank-you to everyone who has played and streamed the game, and for all of your support!

Meg's Monster was the first project I worked on with Odencat, after being a fan of their other titles for years, and for me represents a turning point in my life and career. It was the first project I worked on where I felt I was a true contributing member of the development team from the start, and not simply a translator for hire. That it became such a beloved title the world over is a testament to the love and care put into the project by the entire development team, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Happy birthday, Meg and Roy.

Creative works don't end when they're completed and shared; they continue to exist in various forms in this world. Recently, I heard a story about a work that took a sad path.

Meg's Monster is celebrating its first birthday, thanks to all the fans. I hope to continue supporting the members so that they can live happily in this world.

Logo Design

Congratulations on your first anniversary! When I started designing the logo, I didn't know the details of this story. It was a completely selfish desire as a fan to 'avoid spoilers and welcome the release date.' Thanks to Daigo-san's divine guidance of 'conveying only essential elements while avoiding spoilers,' that logo was completed. I apologize for any inconvenience caused!

By the way, the Meg's Monster logo exists not only in Japanese but also in English, Chinese (both traditional and simplified), and Korean versions. You can view them on the official website, so if you didn't know, please take a look!

To fans of the 'dangerous ones,' let's be friends.

Happy 1st year anniversary to Meg's Monster! I am honored to have helped with the PR/Marketing for this game, and I have learned a lot from this whole journey. It was amazing to work with a talented team, and I got to meet media and streamers for Odencat. My goal was to help spread the word about the game to the North American audience, and I am so excited more people know about the game now. I plan to learn more Japanese when I visit, hopefully this year! Thanks to everyone who made Spud fanart, he is my favorite character!

Meg's silhouette gazing at the night sky, accompanied by melancholic music that seems to foretell the unfolding drama.

Since the moment I first opened the title screen, I've been captivated by this work. My love for it has gone beyond mere playtesting—I've even created a 4-panel manga based on it.

And astonishingly, last year at BitSummit, I was appointed as an event coordinator. Designing the booth and creating merchandise were new challenges, but I tackled them with unwavering passion to elevate this beloved creation.

To everyone who visited the venue and purchased merchandise, my heartfelt gratitude. Happy first anniversary, Megbake! I'll continue to cherish it forever.

I am very attached to this work.
I was living a life where I didn't play games.

I am delighted that “Meg’s Monster” in which I was involved in playtesting and contributed to some of the 4-panel comic concepts, has been embraced by many people and has reached its first anniversary. I am grateful for the opportunity to be even a small part of this wonderful and heartwarming work, as well as for the chance to connect with so many fans. May “Meg’s Monster” continue to be cherished by many in the days to come!
